Data collected

We do not collect any Personally Identifying or Sensitive Information for this experience.

For each “landmark” server DiagNet connects to, we collect the following information:

• Connection latency
• Single-stream download and upload bandwidth by transferring uncompressed random data
• TCP statistics
• Reverse traceroute (removing your IP address from the paths)

During the submission of the results, we additionally collect important metadata:

• Hashed version of your IP address with additional pepper
• Browser user agent
• Browser connectivity and concurrency level
• Browser languages

If you installed the DiagNet browser extension, we also collect the time taken to load trusted third-party services (as obtained from the performance browser API).

Data usage and goals

Collected samples will be exclusively used to train and evaluate software models for network root cause analysis on academic research grounds.

The samples are physically stored in France, Europe.
